As a beautiful and historic city, London, England, is a mainstay for popular travel destinations. Especially during the summertime, people worldwide flock to visit London’s famous parks, cultural sites, and urban life. London is also a great place to travel if you only have a few days to spare. Here is the Earth Shiner’s guide to visiting London over a weekend.

When arriving in London on the first day, we recommend you come early. Around 7 a.m. is the perfect time to maximize your day. Heathrow Airport is the best airport to land in; it is centralized and close to significant exhibits. Since you’ll land in the morning, it is best to stop by your hotel first. The hotel may not let you check in early, but most will at least let you leave your luggage with the reception. Next, you should get a quick breakfast to fuel yourself for the day.

The best way to see the most significant attractions in the city is to utilize a bus tour. The London Big Bus is a reasonably priced service, with the most basic service costing £38 through online pricing. As the world’s most extensive open-air bus touring company, Big Bus offers a safe and reliable way to explore the city.

The Red Route will take you to the significant sites of Central London, including Big Ben, the Tower of London, the London Eye, and Kensington Palace. The best part? You can hop off at any significant station and explore the areas at your own pace, knowing another bus will be along shortly.

On the second day of your trip, we recommend stopping in the shops and restaurants you saw on the first day. A notable site you’ll pass through is Regent’s Street. On Regent’s, there are many stores where you can shop for goods to take home. One of the most recognizable stores is Hamleys Toy Store. Hamley’s is the oldest toy store in the world, and it has more than 50,000 lines of toys.

If you are a history buff, visiting one of London’s museums makes for a great day. For a shorter trip, the British Museum is definitely worthwhile to see. There’s a permanent collection of over eight million items.

Before settling down for the day, grab a tasty jacket potato, a delicacy in the city. Enjoy the outdoors in Hyde Park with a lovely sunset to wrap up your trip.
